Education Ministry develops vocational training program for school leavers

BANGKOK – Three education agencies have signed an agreement with the Department of Skill Development (DSD) in an attempt to raise the standards of education and meet job market demand. 

Deputy Secretary to the Education Minister Col Rattanachot Angthong presided over the signing ceremony between the DSD and the Office of Basic Education Commission (OBEC), the Office of Non Formal and Informal Education and the Vocational Education Commission (VEC).

Their cooperation is aimed at providing education to students who are leaving secondary education to be able gain employment.

OBEC Secretary-General Karun Sakulpradit said that high school students who decide not to pursue higher education will be eligible to undergo vocational training under the agreement.

OBEC will survey schools nationwide and compile a list of students who wish to join the program. OBEC will use information from its survey to develop the program.
