A good field of 21 players turned out for our regular Sunday bash at Green Valley in perfect playing conditions.  The course was in fine condition but the greens were a tad slower than normal.  The pace of the play was also slow with the round tacking about 4 and half hours.

B Flight’s Nigel Harrison was the man of the match with an excellent 42 points and was followed up the podium steps by George French, playing his very first game in Thailand.  Barry Tregurtha and Billy ‘the hat’ Eyles were knotted on 36 points when the knot was undone it was Barry who gained the bronze step, leaving Billy to tidy up the flight.

The golf manager led the senior flight into the barn with a solid 39 points.  Mick was four clear of Co. Dublin’s Pat Regan while Peter LeNoury and Aussie star Steve Mann went to a count-back, both with 34 points and with Barry just managing to edge Steve for the bronze.

It was back to Green Valley for our usual Tuesday visit and there was a fair turnout and we had to turn 8 players away as we could not get any more tee times.  The day started well until the lads reached the 15th hole and the heavens opened up, causing some players to call it a day.

New player to the group Mashi Kaneta took the top spot in the senior flight with an even par round.  Mashi was two strokes clear of Scotland’s very own Sugar Robinson while the bronze spot was decided on a count-back with Mickey Beresford edging Sugar’s compatriot Mark Wood off the podium steps.

B flight was not to be outdone they had their own 36 pointer in the shape of Nick ‘Elvis’ Shaw.  Billy Eyles slipped into second spot on a count-back over Bill Peach 17-14.

Friday, Jan.  26, Jan. Kings Naga – Stableford

1st Howard Bland (25) 35pts

2nd Tony Oakes (13) 33pts

3rd Pat Reagan (17) 33pts

4th Billy Eyles (21) 33pts

Kings Naga (the old Rayong Country club) was the venue on Friday and we had a low number of players with just 13 on show.  The course was in good condition and we found it to be very testing as no player was able to equal par.

Top score of the day was turned in by Howard Bland with 35 points and three players were tied on 33, Tony ‘the glove’ Oaks, Pat Regan and Billy ‘the hat’ Eyles.  When the divots had settled it was Tony who picked up the second spot, Pat was in third place and Billy was left to close the flight in fourth.
