DDPM Director-General Viboon Sanguanpong revealed on Tuesday that DDPM provincial and district offices in Surin, Buriram, Nakhon Si Thammarat and Phatthalung have been instructed to provide water supply to those in need.
Mr. Viboon said all offices have also been ordered to supply water pumps to farmers, who are in need of water for their crops, and to assist related Local Administrative Organizations to dig more underground water wells, where needed.
The DDPM’s rush to help supply water in all 4 provinces was prompted by the recent shortage of rainfall, since July.
In Phatthalung along, at least 8 districts have been declared disaster zones, as more than 115,200 people have already been hit hard by the lack of rain.
