Permanent Secretary to Culture Somchai Seanglai said on Thursday that the Culture Ministry has joined a number of state and private offices in publishing a special book, titled “Thai Kings and Buddhism”.
Mr. Somchai said that the publication has also seen the collaboration of former Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Dr. Amnuay Veerawan, who has shared his knowledge on the history of Buddhism in Thailand and the roles of Thai Kings in promoting Buddhism.
He stated that HM the King has granted permission to use one of his paintings as the book cover.
The Permanent Secretary to Culture said that 92,000 copies of the book have been printed and will be distributed to all Buddhism-related organizations and the National Library of Thailand.
He went on to say that the book will later be translated into various languages, such as English and Russian, before they are sent to all Thai embassies and missions around the world.
Meanwhile, Dr. Amnuay said that, as more than 90 percent of Thais are Buddhist and there are over 40,000 Buddhist temples across the country, he believes that the blossoming of Buddhist belief has been benefited by all Thai Kings’ strong faith during the past 700 years.
