FDA to inspect Pattaya school cafeterias to improve food, water quality

Food and Drug Administration officials will inspect cafeterias in Pattaya’s public schools as part of a joint city-Health Ministry project to improve the quality of school food and water supplies.

At a Jan. 19 workshop at Pattaya City Hall, Dusit Janthracha, a pharmacist at Ao Udom Hospital, said an average of 10-20 Pattaya students a month are sent home due to digestive problems with food poisoning or other health problems caused by the uncleanliness of cafeterias.

As part of the Consumer Protection and Development of Clean Food and Drinking Water in Schools Project, FDA staffers will evaluate city school cafeterias, advise how to solve sanitary problems and educate school administrators on how to comply with Health Ministry standards on food and drinking water safety.
