5 dead, 35 injured in Pattaya bus accident

Six people, including a pedestrian, died and 35 were injured when a Bangkok-Trat bus hit an electrical pole and overturned in Pattaya.

Blind pedestrian Jamlong Charoensukh, 64, died instantly and his wife, Samneang Khunkhamdee, 52, was seriously injured when the Land Transport Co. bus carrying 47 people lost control and slammed into a telephone booth at kilometer marker 131-132 on Sukhumvit Road Oct. 9.

The 35 injured people, including bus driver Chaiyarit Khamsaen, 43, were treated at three area hospitals.

Chaiyarit told police he was cut off by a motorbike and lost control of the bus, hitting Jamlong and a phone booth before crashing into the utility pole and overturning.

    why do thses buses continue to crash so often?
