The next meeting of the Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) will be held on Sunday, August 23. Everyone is warmly welcome. Coral Expeditions General Manager Mark Fifield from Queensland, Australia, will introduce the PCEC to the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef, its complexities, its frailties and its sustainability. The Club meets every Sunday morning at the Tavern by the Sea Restaurant located on the north end of Beach Road (part of the Amari Orchid Resort). Former world snooker champion Ken Doherty of Ireland will be hosting a Snooker Legends Charity Golf Day on Saturday, Sept. 5 in aid of the Father Ray Foundation and orphanage. The format will be a 2-person Texas scramble at Burapha Golf Club with a shotgun start at 12 noon. Ken will be partnering fellow snooker professional Jimmy White in one of the teams. The annual Jesters Care 4 Kids Children’s Fair will take place from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Sunday, September 6 at the grounds of the Regents International School Pattaya. Expect to see lots of stalls offering fabulous goodies as well as all the usual party fun and games for kids, both young and old. Stalls at the Fair are still available for rental if you have something to sell and wish to take part in this great charity fundraiser. For the past 28 years the Samaritans of Thailand have been providing confidential crisis intervention services over the telephone. The English-speaking unit, Samaritans English Help Line operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support to the expatriate community. English-speaking staff, trained in crisis intervention will provide active, non-judgmental and empathetic listening services on the phone.
