NCPO pegs gas price, pushes for infrastructure projects

BANGKOK, 1 June 2014  – The economic team of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) maintains the price of LPG gas as of 31 May 2014 and diesel price under 30 baht/liter.

Head of the NCPO economic team ACM Prachin Chantong on Sunday chaired a meeting on a national economic roadmap with executives of the Ministry of Finance. ACM Prachin said the meeting’s results would be submitted to NCPO chief Gen.Prayuth Chan-ocha on 3 and 4 June. The roadmap featured four economic missions revolving around fiscal discipline, alternative energies, development of infrastructure and preparations for the ASEAN Economic Community, he said.

The meeting also gave the green light to urgent projects such as the project to compensate disaster-affected farmers in 2014 and infrastructure investment in electricity generation, trains and roads.

As for tax measures, the meeting agreed to maintain the 7% VAT for one more year and tasked the Ministry of Finance with overhauling the whole tax system.
