Second hand winter
jackets, selling for 35 baht or 3 for 100 baht, are flying off the
racks.
Vittaya Yoondorn
Second-hand coats have become hot sellers after
Bangkok’s flood put a chill on supply of new parkas much in demand from
shivering Pattaya residents.
Outdoor markets, clothing shops and department stores
reported strong demand for winter coats Dec. 19 as high pressure
continues to push cold winds out of China into the region. While Pattaya
didn’t get a white Christmas, wind chill temperatures early Dec. 25
pushed into the lower teens.
Pairat Srinuan, 43, a clothing merchant at the
Nernplabwan Market said her used coats, priced at just 35 baht or three
for 100 baht, are flying off the rack.
The price of new coats has shot up as supplies
dwindled due to factory closures from Bangkok’s recent flooding crisis.
