Anti-government protesters
attack premier’s motorcade in Pattaya, Abhisit unhurt

An anti-government protester, red cap, is blocked by security guards and police officers as he threatens to attack Thailand’s Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, not seen, in Pattaya. Abhisit’s motorcade was stopped at a red light, and for some unknown reason the driver had not locked his door. The protester did manage to grab hold of the driver’s collar.  (AP Photo)

Due to this being a national holiday, banks and government offices will be closed April 11-15. But all banks in department stores and plazas will be open every day for banking services such as money exchange.


Rescuers prepare for Songkran accidents

Thailand’s New Year festivities, known as Songkran, run from Monday, April 13 through Wednesday April 15 everywhere in the Kingdom except Pattaya. The festivities here run from Saturday, April 18 through Monday, April 20.

Ingvar, owner of Alingsas Halsostudio, and Jan are perennial Bronze Sponsors for the Jesters Care for Kids. Robert (and Erik from the Scandinavian Bar and Restaurant), are the indefatigable pushbike riders, who have raised over 3 million baht for Jesters over the last 8 years.

I found to our horror that it had been three years since we last reviewed the Thai Garden Resort’s Moon River Pub. We had been in a couple of times to listen to the music, but a formal review was not done. We apologized to the GM of the Thai Garden Resort, Rene Pisters, and dropped in last week.
