Government woos voters with promise to produce manure across the country

Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra is attempting to win over northern farmers by promising to establish organic fertilizer production facilities in all administrative districts.

Speaking at an election rally in the northern province of Phitsanulok on December 12, the prime minister stressed that his administration was committed to eliminating poverty, with schemes to purchase cattle and establish facilities for the production of organic fertilizer in districts across the country.

Calling on the people of Phitsanulok to select Thai Rak Thai Party candidates to ensure the continued development of the province, Thaksin pledged that he would take care of the province personally.

Traveling later in the day to Nakhon Sawan Province, the prime minister told a crowd of over 5,000 people that his party would focus on poverty, youth, and the price of key agricultural products.

He also urged voters not to worry about the security situation in the southern border region, saying at one point of the insurgents that he would “drag them all into prison.” (TNA)

“Daddy’s Home” by Cliff Richard was the theme for Father’s Day celebrations at the Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya on December 5. The hotel hosted a party for 25 children from the Pattaya Orphanage and 25 residents from the Banglamung Home for the Aged. The result was a heart warming affair as Thailand celebrated HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great’s 77th birthday.

Children and the elderly joined together in numerous activities at the Hard Rock Hotel on Father’s Day, December 5.

“Take time to be kind” is one of the hotel’s precepts and under that philosophy it hosts special parties for those less fortunate. The afternoon began as Urs Mosimann, executive assistant manager led staff and management in the get together, as the children bonded with their older counterparts leaving each of them feeling as if they had family to share love and laughter, even if for a short period of time on this special day for the Thai nation.

Fun, games and shows were part of the festivities before everyone dug into a sumptuous buffet, generously laid out by the hotel.

As the sun set over Pattaya, Andrew Khoo, Hard Rock general manager led the candle lighting ceremonies in honor of His Majesty, along with guests, management, staff and the hotel’s specials guests for the afternoon - the children and the elderly who had a family for the day. The joy on the faces of the guests, both young and old, lent truth to how important it is to “take time to be kind”.

Naklua continues to build on its good reputation

One would have to have a white cane and a Labrador not to see the development that has been happening in Naklua-Pattaya-Jomtien. While there has been some ‘traditional’ shop-house activity, the real forward thrust is in the high end accommodation.

Architect’s model of the new Nova Mirage

The more affluent market has found Naklua, with heavy investment in quality apartments, either personal residential, or for leasing, and a typical example is the new Nova Mirage luxury condominium development that is being built in Naklua.

With other luxury apartment buildings in the area, and two new five star hotels being built, this type of development characterizes the future style of Naklua. Using quality materials and world class designs, the Nova Mirage development intends to be a leader in the integrated use of natural materials and luxurious appointments.

A model room at Nova Mirage

As opposed to some condominium blocks where only a limited number of apartments get the coveted sea views, the Nova Mirage offers each unit an outlook over Pattaya Bay. Obviously the higher floors get better views and from the 320 square meter duplex penthouses they are superb.

Modern condominium dwellers are very demanding as far as the facilities that should be available and the Nova Mirage boasts one of the most novel Bali-style pools, with swim-up bar, jacuzzi and spa, all situated in front of the clubhouse and its gymnasium.

Incorporated in the building design are ground floor shops, a feature that has been missing from other older developments in this region, and residents can look forward to the fact that a 24 hour convenience group has already booked one unit.

Work has by now commenced, the pilings are down, the framework taking place, the pool built and its surroundings underway, and the clubhouse with display unit open for inspection. The developers are more than confident that the building will be open as planned next year, with Chavalit, the architect responsible for the design and the East Indies Design Studios (interior decor) being on site regularly to ensure the European standards are being maintained during construction.

With prices starting at 1.75 million baht (35,000 baht per square meter), and even the large penthouses only between 40,000-45,000 baht per square meter, the wise investor should be looking towards Naklua for the emerging market that is beckoning.
