Pattaya spends 200,000 baht on meetings, training
for welfare groups

Pattaya spent 200,000 baht in 2013 on training charity and welfare
organizations to better cooperate on projects city hall deemed important.
At a year-end review meeting Dec. 17, Deputy Mayor Wutisak Rermkitkarn said
the funds were mostly spent on training, as well as meetings to exchange
experiences about work done cooperatively with organizations, meetings to
improve the operations of individual groups, and training for organizations
in which scholars were sent to study or visit rural areas.
Wutisak said the city Social Development Department has been given a mandate
to work with outside agencies to eradicate poverty, promote equality for
women and children, develop rural areas, improve education, improve public
health and promote stability. The work is being done to prepare for the
formation of the ASEAN Social-Cultural Community in 2020.
He said each city project had received cooperation from many organizations
and thanked representatives attending the meeting for their help during
2013.
During the meeting, a moment of silence was held to mourn the loss of
Nattapong Suksiri, director of Pattaya Youth Development, who lost his
battle with cancer in November. Pattaya lost an important individual in
regards to social development.
