Upstart party unseats Mayor Atithep, city council in Ban Chang election

New Ban Chang mayor, Pairoj Ruangthurakij.

Ban Chang’s established politicians were swept from office as the city’s voters chose an entirely new slate of candidates.
Newcomer Pairoj Ruangthurakij, head of the new Ban Chang Wan Mai Party, unseated Mayor Atithep Jariyawetwattana and his slate of 18 Rao Rak Ban Chang Party incumbents. The entire slate of Ban Chang Wan Mai council candidates was elected.
Pairoj garnered 5,372 votes to Atithep’s 3,287.
Pairoj said the results proved Ban Chang residents preferred his team’s vision and proposals and wanted to change of leadership that “truly listens” to the community is focused on resolving problems.
The council members were elected to represent three city zones.
Area 1 will be represented by Yodtong Aiampuang, Wassana Suddee, Somporn Panthu, Sombat Jarernsiang, Sombat Chakatrakarn and Phichet Thanormkiat.
Area 2 will be represented by Apisara Sritarom, Unchana Nisaimun, Supapan Ariyawanich, Achariya Paiyoo, Kamrai Jansingh and Boonyarak Puagnisai.
Area 3 will be represented by Tawatchai Jampapong, Panor Maksawas, Tansinee Bamrung, Ekarin Wachanupaporn, Suthiya Janpim and Chalao Lomurhuan.
