Warunya Thongrod
The Pattaya City Social Development Office honored five members of the Pattaya Women’s Development Group for outstanding work in the community.
More than 200 club members joined top city officials at the Sept. 13 association meeting which began with lectures on teamwork by Udom Butta, head of the Education Ministry’s Sema Preservation Center, and Saneh Somsri, secretary of the Restaurant and Goods Product Association of Thailand.
Selected by the development group and the Pattaya Social Development Office, the five “Outstanding Women” finalists were chosen from 17 nominees. The award salutes good work on behalf of society with hopes it encourages others to do the same.
Honored this year were Women’s Development Group President Naowarat Khakhay, Nithra Nagmpiem, Nittaya Sribanyong and Panyhee Thongnak.
Amongst their achievements were helping to develop handicrafts skills for less fortunate women, donating and feeding lunch to kids at Karunyawet Children’s Home and the Home of the Elderly Banglamung. They had also donated to temples to build chapels and feed monks.
Members also presented an award to Bunnaphan Jiensukhkul for her continued support of the Pattaya Woman Development Group.
The meeting also saw a donation of mosquito nets to Pattaya from Noppadol Saengma, assistant to the governor of Rotary International District 3340.
