Open drains pose traffic hazard in Jomtien
Vittaya Yoondorn
Thieves have been stealing iron drain covers in Jomtien Beach,
leaving behind hazardous holes filled with garbage.
Pattaya city officials apparently are aware of the vandalism in front of
the Villa Navin Resort, as they’ve placed wooden poles in the open
drains to warn motorists of danger. But they haven’t actually replaced
the missing covers.
Thieves have taken the covers and sold them for scrap. The open drains
then become receptacles for garbage and broken glass.
Motorcycle taxi drivers in the area are asking the city to solve the
problem before someone gets hurt.
