Pattaya to offer funding to community-based health care programs

Citizens from the first 9 communities attend the community meeting for healthcare planning in Pattaya School No. 2.

Warunya Thongrod
Pattaya plans to offer funding to neighborhood groups interested in creating preventative health care programs through the new National Health Security Local Fund.
Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome and National Health Security Office community-development representative Suthida Saengphet met with village heads from 11 Pattaya-area communities Nov. 27 at Pattaya School No. 2 to outline the requirements of the new program.
As part of nationwide health-care initiative, the NHSO is providing funding to local governments to spur communities to develop exercise and health-promotion programs to give residents access to health care services, better prevent disease, improve service quality and offering local nursing services. The program is aimed at key risk groups, including mothers and children, the elderly, disabled, chronically ill and those working in risky occupations.
The size of the local fund has not been disclosed, nor has the maximum amount the city will give to individual groups. Each community will need to draft its proposals according to NHSO standards, submit them to Pattaya City Hall for review and those selected will be sent to the national government for a budget appropriation.
Meetings with the rest of Pattaya’s 38 neighborhoods were scheduled throughout the rest of the month.
