Regional police raided a Third Road clinic investigators allege was performing illegal abortions.
Children and Women Protection Center officers descended upon the medical office Nov. 24 after learning a motorcycle taxi had taken a pregnant girl there for an abortion. Police entered to find an abortion in progress, along with the dead body of a 5-month-old fetus.
Officers arrested Somjai Buasaen, 45, who was caught performing the illegal procedure, along with receptionist Chitra Masiyapak, 21, and motorcycle taxi driver Aakhom Sanmano, 31.
Investigators said the clinic had been raided several times before and believed to be owned by Dr. Chanwith Sattayaprasert, who has been in hiding since an earlier arrest.
