Pattaya repaints Third
Road ‘do not cross’ lines

Road workers repaint
lines at the 3rd Road intersection with Soi Phettrakul in North
Pattaya.
Vittaya Yoondorn
Pattaya road workers put a new coat of paint on the pavement at a
Third Road intersection, hoping to get drivers to stop making
illegal turns.
Land Transport Traffic Department Director Pinyasinee
Kulla-ekchoscha ordered workers to repaint the faded lines at the
3rd Road intersection with Soi Phettrakul in North Pattaya, which
allows drivers shortcuts to both Second Road and Sukhumvit Road.
He said CCTV camera footage shows that drivers simply ignore the
fading lines on the road, cutting across traffic to avoid long Third
Road traffic lights. Pinyasinee believes if new, thick yellow and
white lines are laid down, along with “do not cross” wording, Thai
drivers will heed the law.
He urged commuters, yet again, to respect traffic rules, drive on
specified routes, and don’t cut across traffic.
