CHIANG RAI – Dozens of couples had their marriage certificates registered at memorable sites, on hot air balloons and on a glass skywalk, on the Valentine’s Day.

The balloon event was organized at the Singha Park in Muang district of the northernmost province of Chiang Rai where the temperature was at 12 degrees Celsius.

Twenty-five Thai and foreign couples were selected to board hot air balloons in the special event witnessed by about 1,000 people. Deputy Chiang Rai governor Pasadet Bunyalak presided over the event and officials from Muang district of Chiang Rai registered the marriage certificates.

The selected couples included Thai actor Warit Tipgomut and his bride Waritta Lorlohakan and Thai professional footballer Adisorn Promrak and his wife Chatcha Khunnirong.
In the northeastern province of Loei, 14 couples participated in a similar event as their marriage certificates were registered on the 90-meter-long glass skywalk above on the bank of the Mekong River in Chiang Khan district.

The Loei governor presided over the ceremony and handed registered marriage certificates to participating couples. The 80-meter-high glass skywalk is a new tourist attraction of Loei and was set for official opening in April.
