BANGKOK, Thailand – The government is moving forward with the “Thai Tiew Thai Plus” domestic tourism stimulus program, allocating up to 3.5 billion baht to provide one million travel benefits and boost economic activity through late 2026. Under the initial plan, participating businesses can register starting October 1. Public registration via the Paotang application is expected to open after October 25, with eligible travel beginning November 1.
The government will subsidize accommodation costs by up to 1,500 baht per night, for up to five nights per person, totaling up to 7,500 baht. Participants will receive digital vouchers for tourism-related spending at restaurants, cafés, spas, massage and nail services, transportation providers, souvenir shops, and other participating businesses. These vouchers will follow a 50:50 co-payment model, with limits set at 1,500 baht for major tourism destinations and 2,000 baht for secondary cities. The higher amount is designed to encourage broader distribution of tourism income.
Tourism Authority of Thailand Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool estimates the program could generate 58–60 billion baht in economic activity through increased domestic travel and spending. She also projects that each baht of government funding could yield about 2.5 baht in economic circulation. The program aims to support tourism businesses, stimulate domestic spending, and direct more tourism revenue to secondary destinations and local economies during the year-end travel period.
