
BANGKOK, Thailand – The Prime Minister has commended Civil Defense Volunteers (CDV) as a vital force in disaster prevention and mitigation, and called for enhanced risk reduction and emergency preparedness on Civil Defense Volunteers Day 2026.
Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, serving as Commander of the Central Civil Defense Volunteers Center, addressed volunteers and officials nationwide on March 22, 2026.
He emphasized that Civil Defense Volunteers demonstrate strong public spirit and play a crucial role in protecting lives and property. Their work includes managing local incidents, responding to major disasters across regions, and supporting operations in security-sensitive areas.
The Prime Minister noted that national safety and resilience depend on cooperation from all sectors, with volunteers as a key pillar of disaster management. He acknowledged the risks volunteers face, including injury and loss of life, and emphasized the importance of recognizing their contributions.
