The Oil Fuel Fund Office (OFFO) has approved a motion to maintain the retail price of diesel at around 32 baht per liter.

OFFO Director-General Wisak Watanasap made the announcement at the office’s latest meeting. The move was effective as of Friday (21 July). This decision came as the 5 baht per liter diesel tax reduction measure was set to end on July 20.

The new move aims to shield the public from increased expenses during the ongoing economic recovery. The duration of price stabilization will depend on the global fuel market situation and the status of the fuel fund, which will be closely monitored due to price volatility in the oil market.

The latest financial figures reveal a fuel fund deficit of 49.83 billion baht. This includes a 4.3 billion baht deficit in the oil account and a 45.5 billion baht deficit in the LPG account. The financial health of the fund will be continuously evaluated amid risks associated with fluctuating global oil prices. (NNT)
