Nan floodwaters recede as roads, water services near full recovery

Nan officials report falling floodwaters, restored services and ongoing repairs as recovery efforts continue across flood-hit communities.

NAN, Thailand – The Nan Joint Public Relations Center has provided updates on relief efforts and recovery operations in Nan province on August 22, 2026, reporting significant reductions in water levels and the restoration of essential services to near-normal conditions. ​During the briefing, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Yodchanan Wongsawat stressed the importance of restoring public confidence in housing safety and instructed public works officials to assess structural damage promptly. He also recognized the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, the Royal Irrigation Department, and local volunteers in supporting relief operations.


​Nan Governor Chainarong Wongyai reported that floodwaters had receded below riverbanks at all monitoring points. Municipal water is steadily receding due to ongoing pumping and drainage. Nan Highway District 2 is installing Bailey bridges to restore severed routes, with Route 1256 expected to reopen by August 23, 2026. ​Water services have been fully restored in Mueang Nan district, while alternative delivery continues for the remaining 1% of users in Pua and Tha Wang Pha districts. Clean-up teams, including military engineers from Phitsanulok and personnel from the 34th, 35th, and 38th Military Circles, are assisting residents in Pua district.



The governor said that residents without power can report outages through the provincial coordination hotline at 054-716-174. Meanwhile, ​National Institute for Emergency Medicine Secretary-General Pichet Nongchang confirmed that the 1669 emergency hotline is fully operational. The Ministry of Public Health, in partnership with True Corporation, is deploying drones to deliver medical supplies to inaccessible areas. Mental health support teams have also been dispatched.
