After receiving a letter of concern from the group known as the Network of Student and People for Thailand’s Reform, Mr. Sahakarn Petchnarin, Deputy Permanent-Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, confirmed that Mr. Thaksin is still under medical care at Police General Hospital, and the decision lies with the assessing physicians. The prison director has the authority to order his transfer and report to the Ministry of Justice. This applies to both transfer him to receive medical treatment at hospital and returning to prison.

Four personnel have been assigned to oversee him at the hospital. The hospital has specialists in various fields, ensuring comprehensive care for Mr. Thaksin’s four medical conditions.

At this time, it is confirmed that there will be no transfer to a private hospital, as previously rumored. Additionally, it is unlikely that photos of his treatment will be made public, as it concerns the rights of the patient and the rights of those under detention.

The Deputy Permanent-Secretary of Justice further added that he understands the various concerns in society. The Ministry’s task is to demonstrate that the Corrections Department is following the correct procedures and not selectively enforcing them, in order to gain the understanding of society.
