The Cooperative Auditing Department is advancing AI-powered auditing and launching “SmartMe Plus” to improve financial oversight, data security, and cooperative services nationwide.
BANGKOK, Thailand – The Cooperative Auditing Department (CAD) is accelerating its digital transformation with new technologies intended to improve auditing operations and public services. The department is also introducing “SmartMe Plus,” an AI-powered personal financial management application, while maintaining strict data security standards. Deputy Director-General Boonyarat Aathanronarit said the department’s strategy centers on three areas: integrating artificial intelligence into auditing processes, developing a real-time business processing system to improve oversight of cooperatives, and creating a large-scale financial and accounting learning platform for cooperatives, their members, and farmers.
The CAD is also preparing to establish Thailand’s first Financial Information Center as a central database for analysis and policy planning. SmartMe Plus expands on the existing SmartMe application, which has more than 239,000 users, by adding features such as household accounting, occupational cost recording, voice recording, dashboard-based analysis, and expense budgeting tools. Future upgrades are expected to include real-time financial assessments and debt management recommendations. The department said it has implemented advanced data protection measures, including encryption, firewalls, compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act, risk management protocols, and backup systems. It has also launched the Smart Auditor project to improve auditors’ digital skills and is using AI-based social listening systems and government networks in all 77 provinces to enhance communication and public outreach.
