Indonesia offers support for peace efforts in Thailand’s Deep South during diplomatic visit

The Fourth Army Area and ISOC Region 4 held talks with Indonesian Ambassador Hari Prabowo on cooperation and peace efforts in Thailand’s southern border provinces, including sharing lessons from Indonesia’s Aceh peace process.

PATTANI, Thailand – The Fourth Army Area recently welcomed Indonesian Ambassador to Thailand Hari Prabowo and his delegation during a visit to Thailand’s southern border provinces, where the two sides discussed bilateral relations and opportunities for closer cooperation. Lieutenant General Norathip Poinok, commander of the Fourth Army Area and director of the Internal Security Operations Command Region 4, received the ambassador at the ISOC Region 4 Forward Command in Pattani province. The visit also allowed the ambassador, who assumed his post about three months ago, to introduce his working team.



During the discussions, Lt. Gen. Norathip expressed appreciation for Indonesia’s support of Thai students studying in the country and requested continued assistance. He also sought insights from Indonesia’s experience in resolving conflict in Aceh province that could be adapted to address challenges in Thailand’s southern region. Ambassador Prabowo said Indonesia and Thailand have enjoyed friendly relations for many years and share cultural and linguistic ties, especially with Thailand’s southern provinces. He affirmed that Indonesia stands ready to share its experiences and contribute ideas that could support efforts to achieve lasting peace in Thailand’s southern border provinces. (NNT)
