Police take Rungroj Sangkasinsu to Naklua Soi 14, to reenact the crime, when he stole the Russian tourist’s mobile phone.

A man arrested 19 times for robbing tourists was nabbed a 20th time doing the same thing again in Pattaya.

Rungroj Sangkasinsu, 54, on Feb. 27 was brought by Chonburi and Banglamung police to re-enact a snatch-and-run robbery of a Russian woman using his Yamaha motorbike on Naklua Soi 14.

Provincial Police Region 2 commander Pol. Maj. Gen. Kumpol Leelapraphabhon said the robbery occurred Feb. 23. The Russian tourist made a video of Rungroj fleeing that included his license plate. Using that and CCTV cameras, police quickly traced Rungroj to his house in Ban Bueng district in Chonburi where he was arrested.

The woman’s mobile phone was recovered.

Rungroj was arrested on similar charges 19 times and got out of prison two years ago. Police said Rungroj confessed that he committed the robbery because he was unemployed and broke.
