BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand’s Joint Information Center (JIC) has rejected a statement by the spokesperson for Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defence regarding the Thailand-Cambodia Joint Boundary Commission (JBC), saying Thailand remains committed to resolving border issues peacefully through agreed bilateral mechanisms. The JIC said Thailand continues to support the work of the JBC, the General Border Committee (GBC), and other agreed channels to address border issues, including joint survey and demarcation efforts. It also rejected allegations that Thai forces had occupied Cambodian territory, saying the claim does not reflect the facts and that Thailand’s actions are consistent with the Joint Statement agreed by both sides on Dec. 27, 2025, to reduce tensions and maintain stability along the border.
The center said Thailand is ready to support JBC operations when conditions are suitable, adding that survey and demarcation work requires mutual trust, the safety of officials from both countries, and adherence to established technical procedures. It also urged all sides to avoid communications that could create misunderstandings within the international community. The JIC affirmed that Thailand will continue cooperating transparently with ASEAN observer teams by providing information and facilitating their work. The center called on all parties to use existing bilateral mechanisms to resolve border issues and allow survey and demarcation efforts to proceed safely, transparently, and for the benefit of people in both countries.
