Pickup smashes into big-rig on Pattaya highway, 1 hurt

This pickup truck smashed into the 18-wheeler. The pickup was totaled and the driver was severely injured.

One person was hurt when an 18-wheeler made a U-turn in front of oncoming traffic in Nong Plalai in East Pattaya.

Pongpat Takhod, 35, was trapped in his Isuzu D-Max and suffered severe injuries in the Feb. 28 wreck on Highway 36. He was transported to a local hospital.

Supol Kobklang, the 57-year-old driver of the Diamond Friend Co., said he was hauling steel to Korat and stopped to make a U-turn. He claimed he didn’t see the oncoming pickup when he pulled out.

Police pulled CCTV video to determine fault in the accident.


The 18-wheeler was hit by a pick-up truck as it was making a U-turn into oncoming traffic. The driver wasn’t hurt.
