20 million baht seized in raid on Pattaya online-gambling ring

A cybercrime task force, along with Chonburi and Banglamung police raided a suspected gambling house at the Viewpoint Village.

Police seized 20 million baht in cash, gold and vehicles when they raided a Pattaya home used as the base for an online gambling operation.

A cybercrime task force, along with Chonburi and Banglamung police arrested Itthiphol Kusonkitworakul and Nattapol Thananan, both 29, at a rental home in Viewpoint Village July 29.



Officers recovered 8.5 million baht in cash, 34-baht-weight in gold ornaments, seven computers, 37 cellphones, an Apple iPad, a brand new Mercedes-Benz, a similarly new van and two new motorbikes. Police also found a 38-caliber handgun and 40 bullets.


Authorities said Itthiphol confessed to running the highly profitable online gambling site for about two months. During that time, he was able to rake in more than 20 million baht with which he and Nattapol bought cars and gold.

The two were charged with violations of the Computer Crime Act, gambling and weapons laws.

Two brand new expensive vehicles have been confiscated as evidence.
