BANGKOK, Thailand – The search for Thai travel YouTuber Hlun Solo has ended in tragedy after his body was found in Georgia following a 16-day disappearance that attracted widespread attention from followers and the public. The Facebook page “Asa Pa Pai Long” (“Volunteers Take You Lost”) announced the heartbreaking news, saying Hlun Solo had been found and expressing condolences to his family. “I found Hlun. I would like to express my condolences to Hlun’s family. I have already informed his family. Details will be announced by the family,” the post stated. The announcement prompted an outpouring of sympathy from followers and social media users, who shared messages of support for the family and thanked volunteers and search teams who had helped during the effort to locate him.
According to Georgian media outlet Mtavari, citing the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs, Hlun Solo was found dead inside a hotel in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. Authorities have confirmed the discovery, while details surrounding the circumstances of his death have not yet been released.
Hlun Solo, whose real name was Bowontat Pengsuk, was a 26-year-old Thai travel content creator known for solo backpacking journeys. He had travelled to more than 50 countries and built a large following through his travel videos, with around 2.5 million followers on Facebook.
His family last made contact with him on July 13, before his older brother publicly appealed for help in locating him on July 28 after he had been out of contact for an extended period. The disappearance sparked concern among Thai travellers and online communities, with volunteers and followers sharing information in an effort to help trace his whereabouts in Georgia. The volunteer page said the family had been notified and requested that further details regarding the incident be shared by relatives directly. Authorities in Georgia are expected to continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the death, while arrangements for the next steps are being handled with the family.
