The Permanent Secretary for Agriculture and Cooperatives, Anan Suwannarat, said the commission vetting expenditure of a 1 trillion-baht loan is of the view that 91,000 civil servants, who also engage in farming, do not qualify for a 5,000-baht handout, which is aimed at assisting those impacted by the spread of COVID-19. He indicated that the funds are targeted at those adversely affected by the circumstance and have no other recourse.

On the discovery of some 100,000 recipients who are deceased, Mr. Anan indicated the relevant agency has yet to formally notify the office, while noting that the situation is possible due to the government using data from 2019 to 2020. Asked if their next of kin would receive the funds, he said that further consideration is needed.(NNT)
