SEOUL, South Korea – More than 200 Thai antiquities are on display in the Republic of Korea for the first time in “Amazing Thailand: Masterpieces of Thai Art,” an exhibition showcasing Thailand’s history, art, and cultural heritage. The exhibition at the National Museum of Korea has attracted more than 30,000 visitors since opening on June 23, with attendance expected to exceed 100,000 before it closes on September 6.
Culture Minister Sabeeda Thaised visited the exhibition on July 24 and met with National Museum of Korea Director-General Yoo Hong-jun to discuss museum management, collection care, exhibition planning, and public engagement. The exhibition features more than 200 antiquities from 22 museums across Thailand under the Fine Arts Department.
The exhibition, the first dedicated showcase of Thai cultural heritage in the Republic of Korea, stems from a cooperation agreement between Thailand’s Fine Arts Department and the National Museum of Korea. The collection traces the development of Thailand’s history, religions, artistic traditions, and cultural identity while introducing Korean and international audiences to the country’s cultural heritage. Selected works will be exhibited at Tongdosa Temple from October 4 to December 4, following the conclusion of the Seoul exhibition. (NNT)
