BANGKOK, 5 September 2012  – The Cabinet yesterday agreed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ proposal to recruit Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha, a provincial state attorney at the Office of the Attorney General as the new ambassador to Vienna, Austria, effective from October 1, 2012.

HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha will replace Mr Somsak Suriyawong who, according to the Foreign Ministry’s proposal, will become Thai ambassador to Paris, France.

As Her Royal Highness has already been holding the post of Thai Ambassador to the United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice in Vienna, as earlier approved the Cabinet, she will continue to hold the post concurrently with the Thai ambassador to Vienna beginning October 1.

In its report to the Cabinet, the Foreign Ministry praised the princess for performing her duties successfully at the UN Commission, in which she has also served as Chairwoman since December 2011. The princess will remain the Chairwoman until her term ends this December.
