GLO Director Police Major General Atthakrit Thareechat said he has urged the GLO staff to speed up the installation of the two- and three-digit online lottery system in order to have it up and running by this year-end, as opposed to the initial timeframe of 6-8 months. The new deadline is in compliance with Deputy Finance Minister Tanusak Lekuthai’s instruction.
Other preparations for the new lottery system, such as public relations campaigns and usage training – both in technical and distributional aspects – will need to be fast-forwarded as well, according to the director. The GLO and Loxley GTECH Technology Co., Ltd., provider of the online lottery system, will co-organize the training.
So far, Loxley has installed around 6,000 lottery ticket dispensing machines across Thailand. Even though the online lottery scheme has been delayed since 2008, the company confirmed that it is ready to launch the system within 90 days after the government lays down a clear policy on the matter.
