Fire damaged three shops at The Avenue galleria, causing more than 500,000 baht in damage.

Firefighters took about 20 minutes to extinguish the 3 a.m. Dec. 12 fire that gutted Pizza Corner, Cream & Fudge and Coffee World shops.

Surveying the damage, Pizza Corner manager Saowanee Srichokchai said damage likely would cost more than 500,000 to repair. Flames destroyed the stores’ computer systems, an ice cream freezer and interior decorations.

A security guard said he called authorities after seeing large amounts of smoke pouring out of one of the shops and then heard two explosions that caused flames to spread quickly.

Fire investigators are working on the assumption faulty wiring was at fault for the blaze, but are still investigating.
