Deputy Mayor Ronakit Ekasingh reviewed safety and security plans July 10 with Pattaya police, civil-defense volunteers, public health workers, staff from Pattaya and Banglamung hospitals, and the Sawang Boriboon foundation.
Pattaya has allocated police officers, civil-defense officers, and foundation staff to man intersections, curves, reverse points, entrances and other spots along the entire 42.2-kilometer course, and will partially close roads to provide facilities and safety to runners.
Deputy Mayor Ronakit Ekasingh announces details of this coming Sunday’s marathon.
The marathon route starts and finishes on Beach Road near the intersection with Central Road, so that section of Beach Road will be closed for the entire event, from 3 to 9 a.m. For the rest of the course, police will close the left lane on all roads used in the marathon. Roads affected by this include North Pattaya Road, Sukhumvit Highway, Central Pattaya Road, South Pattaya Road, Soi Wat Boonsamphan in Jomtien, Soi Na Jomtien 2, Jomtien Beach Road, Thappraya Road, the bottom of 3rd Road leading to Bali Hai pier, and along Beach Road back to the start finish at Central Plaza. Parts of 3rd Road will also be closed, from Central Road to North Pattaya Road for the 5k fun run.
Trail cars will follow each group, race referees will travel on bicycles and three medical units will be staged along the route. There also will be police and mobile restrooms.
