Deputy Gov. Adisak Thepass presided over the June 26 ceremony with Banglamung District Chief Sakchai Taengho and other community leaders.
Adisak noted International Day Against Drug Abuse was launched by the United Nations in 1987 and Thailand annually expresses its determination to campaign against drugs.
The event also featured exhibitions and stage performances plus attendees drank and poured holy water swearing against drug use.
A highly revered monk works his way through the congregation, sprinkling them with holy water as they swear to stay away from narcotics.
