The Uzbekistan Consulate-General marked 20 years of diplomatic relations
with Thailand by staging an Uzbek cultural show at Central Festival
Pattaya Beach.
Banglamung District Chief Chawalit Saeng-Uthai and famed Muay Thai
boxing promoter Yodthong Senanan were the guests of honor at the May 9
event attended by both Thais and foreign tourists.
Music and dance filled the afternoon, including the playing of the Uzbek
national anthem and a 20-member dance troupe dressed in traditional gold
colors. Musicians played traditional tunes as Uzbek singer Mallaboyev
Hamidjon crooned love songs from the Eastern European nation.
Uzbek quilts, vases, plates and other items were also available for
sale. Particularly popular were cloth dolls, toys and hats.
A similar Thai cultural show will be held later this year in
Uzbekistan’s capital, Tashkent.
