Pattaya officials signed a tourism-cooperation
agreement with Qingdao, China to facilitate exchange of knowledge and
technology, as well as see Pattaya exhibit at a 2014 floral show there.
Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome welcomed Lou Guanlian,
deputy director-general of the Qingdao Tourism Administration, and nine
staffers to Pattaya City Hall Jan. 31. There the mayor, Bunpit
Sirithunyhong, president of the Thai-Chinese Culture and Economy
Association, and Tourism Authority of Thailand Pattaya Director Athapol
Vannakit gave the Chinese a presentation on the city and its tourism
development.
Both sides agreed Pattaya and Qingdao share many
similarities in tourism potential, beaches and entertainment venues. The
Chinese trip to Thailand was a chance to build friendships between the
cities and get an agreement for Pattaya officials to visit China later
to provide technology to enhance the quality of life in Qingdao.
Chinese officials invited their Pattaya counterparts
to exhibit at the 2014 Royal Flora Expo in Qingdao. Both sides exchanged
gifts before signing the cooperation agreement.
