The Royal Thai Navy celebrated HM the King’s 84th
birthday with its biggest 21-gun salute.
Rear Adm. Noppadol Supakorn, commander of the Air and
Coastal Defense Command, opened the service-wide Dec. 5 birthday
ceremony with the presentation of flowers to an image of His Majesty.
Soldiers from the 12th Coastal Defense Battalion
Command, 1st Coastal Regiment then followed with the big-gun salute, as
Vice Adm. Waipoj Weeraprasertsak oversaw the firing off three volleys
from seven 103 mm. cannons at Prince Chumphon Camp.
Noppadol said the ceremony was the navy’s
contribution to a unified military salute. Similar 21-gun shots were
made earlier that day by the army, air force and national police.
