Provincial and national officials are recruiting
Thailand’s media outlets to help them get the word out about the threats
posed by loan sharks.
A Sept. 8 seminar co-sponsored by the Ministry of
Finance and Chonburi’s anti-loan sharking division at the Sea Breeze
Hotel in Jomtien Beach was aimed at giving reporters and editors more
background on illegal money-lending problems in hopes of raising public
awareness about the perils of doing business with loan sharks.
Ministry officials said the problem is still growing
and provided media outlets with background on state and local efforts to
combat loan sharks. They also encouraged reporters to feel free to
contact them with any questions.
