The room was gutted, but luckily no one was hurt.

Fire destroyed the hotel room of a Russian tourist, leaving her with nothing, but the rest of the hotel intact.

Firefighters took 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze in Room 313 of the Jaopraya Resort on Thepprasit Road Soi 8, near Jomtien Beach April 29. No one was injured.

Svetlana Kuchmazokova, 23, said she was at the swimming pool when she noticed a large plume of smoke coming from her room. Investigators suspect an electrical short sparked the fire, which caused about 200,000 baht in damage.

Kuchmazokova said she lost all her clothes, the equivalent of about 27,500 baht in various currencies, computer, passport and more. The hotel complained about its loss of the bed, refrigerator, television and other furnishings.

Investigators are pursuing the case to confirm the exact cause of the fire.
