Third Road guesthouse burglarized

No doubt this guesthouse will be hard pressed to find customers after 3 of 6 “safes” were cleaned out during the night.

Three of six guest safes at a Third Road guesthouse were burglarized with guests losing about 120,000 baht worth of foreign currency.

Thanapat Watprasertsuk, 46, owner of an Internet shop located on the ground floor of the (unnamed) guesthouse, said employees who reported to work April 23 found the side door guests use to access the upstairs accommodations broken open and the electronic keycard mechanism disabled. Closed-circuit security cameras were also pushed to the side and unplugged.

She speculated the break-in occurred after the Internet cafe closed at 10 p.m.

Approximately 200 British pounds and $3,700 were taken from the three safes.

Police collected fingerprints and are working on the assumption building employees are involved in the burglary.
