Aging bargirl charged with trafficking teen niece

Boonlua Chatree

An aging bargirl was arrested for allegedly trying to revive her earnings by drafting her vacationing 16-year-old niece into the sex trade for a few days.

Samien Yingrum, 35, was arrested at the Carrefour shopping mall Feb. 24 after a foreign undercover police volunteer procured the services of the teen girl for 1,500. Police had suspected Samien of pimping out her dead sister’s daughter to foreigners for several days.

Samien, who splits time working as a prostitute on Soi 7 and Beach Road, and as a day laborer, told police it was her niece’s idea to have money for sex. She said the girl was only on holiday in Pattaya for four days but wanted spending money before returning to Srakaew.

Police, however, put more credence in the secondary school student’s story that her aunt prodded her to go with foreigners and to give her a 500 baht kickback after each liaison.

Samien is now jailed on human trafficking charges.
