Pattaya officials took the first steps toward
organizing yet another committee to ponder how to improve the quality of
life for the city’s disabled.
Deputy Mayor Wutisak Rermkitkarn was joined by
bureaucrats from the Social Welfare, Employment, Education and General
Secretary’s departments, as well as 10 job-seeking disabled students
from the Father Ray Foundation schools.
The meeting, intended only as a preliminary session
to consider committee members, follows the establishment of two similar
committees last year. As then, the stated goal was to improve education
and training of the disabled, provide better employment opportunities
and enhance disabled people’s overall quality of life.
Further meetings or concrete plans for action were not disclosed.
