Faced with a growing child-abuse problem, Pattaya-area
social welfare and law enforcement personnel met to improve co-ordination
and protection of society’s smallest victims.
Maj. Gen. Kosol Puawet, representing the head of Region 2
Provincial Police, chaired a Nov. 10 meeting at Banglamung Police Station
with Pattaya and Banglamung bureaucrats, social workers, the Pattaya Tourist
Police, Chonburi Immigration, district attorneys, judges and the Child and
Youth Security Protection Center in Pattaya.
Kosol said child abuse has been on the increase,
particularly cases involving violence. While state agencies all work to
prevent and suppress such crimes, they work independently without
coordinating with each other.
By meeting and discussing their roles, activities and
processes, Kosol said, a stronger joint action plan can be devised that has
all agencies working together to solve the problem.
