PEA prepares 2.6 million upgrade to Naklua power system

The Provincial Electricity Authority is upgrading the electricity supply distribution system in Naklua to keep up with the area’s growth.

The Provincial Electricity Authority will spend 2.6 million baht to upgrade electricity distribution in Naklua to handle the area’s hotel and condominium growth.

PEA Assistant Director Samanao Bunkaewwan said Nov. 2 said the last three years have seen a surge in new construction, particularly on sois 12 and 16. New high-rise residential complexes have put a drain on the utility’s supply lines. The upgraded power-distribution system will eliminate the brown- and black-outs that are plaguing Naklua neighborhoods, he said.

Some of the upgrades are as simple as replacing power poles. The PEA recently installed nine new poles in a day.

The 2.6 million outlay is only the first stage. Samanao said a 5 million baht second stage would see upgrades to the Soi Phothisan and Soi 18 areas by the end of 2011.
