The Provincial Electricity Authority will spend 2.6
million baht to upgrade electricity distribution in Naklua to handle the
area’s hotel and condominium growth.
PEA Assistant Director Samanao Bunkaewwan said Nov. 2
said the last three years have seen a surge in new construction,
particularly on sois 12 and 16. New high-rise residential complexes have put
a drain on the utility’s supply lines. The upgraded power-distribution
system will eliminate the brown- and black-outs that are plaguing Naklua
neighborhoods, he said.
Some of the upgrades are as simple as replacing power
poles. The PEA recently installed nine new poles in a day.
The 2.6 million outlay is only the first stage. Samanao
said a 5 million baht second stage would see upgrades to the Soi Phothisan
and Soi 18 areas by the end of 2011.
