The raffle may be grand - but the auction is something else

Mike Franklin
The Jesters Pub Night at Jameson’s on Saturday 16th September has all the makings of another spectacular ‘Care for Kids’ fund-raising event and fun evening. The entertaining Mike Gerrard, wearing his ‘Elvis’ hat, kick starts the show as the opening act. Bangkok DJs, Andy & Paul, will spin and segue us through the evening, pausing for the arrival at Jameson’s of Erik and Robert at the end of their marathon 417 km sponsored cycle ride from the Cambodian border. Tired perhaps, maybe sweating a little, and certainly ready for a cool pint. Make no mistake, these guys are super fit and dedicated athletes and a fine example of what can be done to raise money for the kids in need.

Jersey signed by Ian Rush and Gus Caesar. Donated by Cuel Eden Pub.

The auction is the star fund raiser of the night and our Canadian auctioneer, Eddy Henheffer, is a ‘star’ in his own right. Coming from a family of professional auctioneers, and with a father in the Canadian auctioneer’s ‘Hall of Fame’, Eddy really knows his stuff, when to halt the bids and how to make the sales really entertaining. For that alone it is worth coming to the Jesters Pub Night.
He raised nearly 900,000 baht last year, an impressive contribution to the 5.4M baht raised overall for the beneficiaries of the Jesters Charity Drive in 2005. Phone bids are accepted during the auction and pre-bids are accepted too. In fact, 90,000 baht has already been pre-bid for the George Best signed Man-U shirt.
