About 30 boat operators received training in safety and seamanship
during a pre-Songkran workshop in Pattaya.
Banglamung District Chief Sakchai Taengho joined Marine Department 6
Director Phimuk Prayunphrom and representatives from the Tourist Police and
Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism at the April 8 seminar at the
Pattaya Sea Disaster Prevention Center at Bali Hai Pier.
Lectures and activities included pre-departure preparation, safety
inspections, post-trip inspection and accident management. Presenters
included the Tourist Police, Marine Police and Chemstar Bangkok Nautical
School.
“When tourists choose to travel by boat, it is the responsibility of boat
officers or caretakers to provide safety,” Sakchai said. “Therefore,
training boat personnel to be prepared is a necessity. I believe that
collaboration between the public sector and private sector will result in
providing efficient help to tourists and safe tourism.”
